Vincent and Van Goat both test positive for CAE (Caprine Arthritis Encephalitis). CAE is common among goats and spreads by bodily fluids, similar to HIV in humans. Most goats with CAE are culled (euthanized) almost immediately. CAE does not always have to be a death sentence; some goats can still live long, happy lives if given the chance.

Vincent

Alpine Wether - Dairy Goat

Vincent was rescued when he was only a few days old in 2015. He was accompanied by his “brother” Van Goat.

Vincent struggles with arthritis due to his C.A.E., but we can manage it with supplements and medication as needed.

Vincent’s favorite things are his momma (Susan), food, and more food. He does love all of our volunteers as well, of course.

Vincent is a volunteer favorite and is always trying to “help” with chores!

Van Goat

LaMancha Wether - Dairy Goat

Van Goat arrived in 2015 with Vincent.

Like Vincent, Van Goat does have CAE. However, he shows no symptoms.

Van Goat is just as funny as Vincent and provides comical relief for everyone he meets. He doesn’t like to brag about it, but he is pretty popular on our social media platforms…

Van Goat is also a volunteer favorite and loves a good head scratch. His recent obsession is trying on wigs and hats for his social media fans. We love our “goofy goats” and couldn’t imagine WoodHaven without them!

Louie

Louie came to WoodHaven in 2024, as a baby, after it was discovered that his living conditions were poor. When he arrived, Louie had a bad case of lice and worms. His previous home had not vaccinated him at all.

Despite his rough start, Louie is full of love. He actually still thinks he is a “lap goat”, but we don’t want to tell him he has gotten heavier since he arrived.

Louie enjoys spending his days chewing his cud and playing with his rescue sister, Louise.

Louise

Louise came to WoodHaven in 2024 as a bottle baby. She could not walk and was very sickly. One of our amazing volunteers fostered Louise and worked around the clock with physical therapy to help get her on her feet.

Louise has become quite the little spitfire. She is always playing roughly with her brother, Louie. Her favorite thing to do is to sneak up on Louie and head-butt him.

Even though she had a rough start, Louise never lost her fire. She does calm down occasionally, for a snuggle!

Turn

Turn arrived in 2023 with her daughter Eva.

Turn had contracted Listeria, a bacterial disease, which left her with some stroke-like symptoms. One of the symptoms is her asymmetrical face, but we still think she is adorable.

Since moving to WoodHaven, Turn has really come out of her shell. She loves attention and will always smile for a picture!

Eva

Eva arrived in 2023 with her “Momma Turn”.

Eva and Turn are extremely bonded, even though Eva can be a bully at times. She is a sweet girl who just prefers her own snacks. Who wants to share their food? Not Eva…

Eva knows exactly what time dinner is. She will let you know if you’re running late to give it to her. All in all, Eva is sweet and loves attention!
