Goats

WoodHaven is currently home to:

2 LaMancha Wethers, 1 Alpine Wether & 1 Nigerian Dwarf Doe

  • Vincent

  • Van Goat

  • Hefty

Dairy goats are gaining popularity, as their milk is nutritious and the land needed to support goats is less than that needed for cattle. Unfortunately, a male dairy goat is not of much use to some people, which is how Vincent, VanGoat and Hefty came to reside here at WoodHaven Rescue Farm. Vincent and VanGoat were purchased at auction at only a few days old. Hefty also came from an auction, but was going to be culled (killed) because he was so weak and sick. He was given the name Hefty since he was saved from ending up in a Hefty trash bag. After many sleepless nights with baby goats in a box on the bedroom floor, they finally were able to live outside in the barn. These sweet bottle babies have turned into big healthy boys who provide constant comic relief here.

Mocha

Mocha is a Nigerian Dwarf dairy goat who came to WoodHaven with the mini mules. She and Vincent are inseparable, and both have bald spots on their heads from play butting each other. Mocha will run to you and jump up like a dog, putting her hooves on your legs so she is as tall as her adoptive brothers. She may be the smallest, but she holds her own with the boys. Mocha is adorable and wants to be front and center at all times.
