Cats

Currently there are 16 full time resident cats at WoodHaven Rescue. They spend their days napping in the hay and their nights on rodent patrol. The cats are all spayed and neutered, vaccinated, treated for fleas/tick/worms on a regular basis. Each cat is watched closely for any sign of injury or illness, and if an issue is found, it is addressed immediately.

  • Betty & Barney

Right when COVID-19 hit, WoodHaven got the call to take in three orphaned kittens who needed bottle feeding. Betty, Barney and Wilma are now part of the Pest Patrol and LOVE LOVE LOVE people. Many of the cats who end up at WoodHaven Rescue are feral, or have personality issues that make it impossible to adopt out. These three love to be held, greet everyone who walks in the door, and are the ultimate snugglers. But watch out for Betty – she will launch herself onto your shoulders without warning! She just wants to be hugged, but those claws she uses to cling can be painful! Since the Flinstones are closely bonded, the decision was made to let them stay together here. They have been helpful when it comes to socializing other rescue cats, and that socialization helps when other rescues are to be adopted.

  • Alpha & Ape

Siblings Alpha and Ape are Millie’s babies who stayed at WoodHaven. Alpha was named because she was the first born of Millie’s 6 kittens. Alpha is nicknamed “Aggressive Cuddler” because she head butts you until you give in and cuddle with her. Ape got his name because he is apricot color – but his personality is so goofy and chimp like, his name truly fits him. He perches in the oddest places, and can’t wait to jump on a warm car hood whenever anyone visits the farm. I hope you don’t mind cat prints on your windshield…

  • Lucky

  • Lazzy

  • Lucky & Lazzy

Brothers Lucky and Lazzy (short for Lazarus, because he truly did come back from the dead!) were bottle babies who barely survived their first weeks of life, but are thriving now. Lazzy is massive in size, but shy and prefers not to interact much. Lucky is a good boy with humans but a total jerk to all of the other cats. I guess he feels entitled and resents sharing the barn with them…

Lucy

Lucy was rescued after having litter after litter of kittens that ended up hit and killed on a busy road, Lucy prefers to live on the front porch of Susan’s instead of the barn with the other cats. She’s the tiniest of all of the cats, but one of the sweetest.

Bo

Bo is the grandpa of the bunch, and he is a big boy! So big in fact, he got stuck in the cat door his first day here… His owners moved from the country into town on busy road, and were worried he would get his on the road. Bo struggles with kidney and bladder issues, which can be common in elderly cats, but special food and occasional medication keep Bo healthy and happy.

Butters

Butters was an indoor cat that all of a sudden started exhibiting signs of aggression and anger. Since becoming a barn cat, he is a peach of boy. He gets along with ALL the other cats, and will be the first to jump on your lap.

Morris

Like Gus, Morris just showed up. Unlike Gus, we have been unable to catch him yet to neuter and vaccinate. We are working on it, but so far he has avoided the live traps (we just keep catching Bo – who can’t resist that little bit of extra food!) Watch for updates, as we continue to try and trap this big orange boy so we can properly vet him.

Mama

Mama was left when people moved away from a farm house. She was starving, sick, covered in fleas and ticks when she came to WoodHaven. We named her Mama because she was nursing two grown kittens, to keep them from starving. Mama loves people, but is mean to the other cats (especially Lucy). After all she’s been through, you can’t blame Mama for being crotchety. Mama has beautiful eyes that look like she’s wearing eyeliner.

Wrede

Wrede was thrown out of a car when she was a kitten, resulting in damage to her front leg which ultimately required amputation. She was tossed out in front of Wrede Rock, where a friend saw it happen. After lots of vet care, she has recovered, and you’d never know she only has 3 legs. She is fearful of most people, but once she knows you, loves to have her back and tail scratched. Wrede is a stunning beauty with amazing eyes!

Wallis

Wallis came to live here after being trapped as a feral kitten. She has been terrified of people, but loves other cats. It was best to put her in a situation with access to food, water, shelter and cat friends. It’s taken a lot of time, but she finally doesn’t bolt when you see her. She hides a lot in the hay bales but does come out when it’s time for the wet canned food in the evenings.

Dick

Dick was abandoned in the middle of a busy road, and brought to WoodHaven as an older kitten. Dick likes to bully the other cats, but then can be found nestled next to and grooming the same cat he most recently bullied. He’s a mystery.

Gus

Gus showed up at WoodHaven and it took 3 years of trying before he was ultimately caught. After neutering, treating for abscess infections, getting rid of fleas, ticks, earmites….Gus is the most vocal of the cats, screaming constantly for someone to pick him up and to show him the affection he deserves.

Miss Everest

Miss Everest is one of two dilute calicos here at WoodHaven. She was rehomed several times, and unfortunately declawed in one of those homes. Even being declawed, she refuses to be an indoor cat. But as a barn cat here, she blossoms! While she will let you approach and pet her, she prefers everything to be on her terms. You will see this sweetheart laying in the hay or exploring outside, soaking up what life has to offer!
