Cats
WoodHaven is not set up to take in cats. However, we try to help when and where we can.
We currently have 12 cats that are permanent residents, due to health and/or behavioral issues.
Betty
Betty was rescued in 2019.
She was a very sickly kitten, and we were not sure if she would make it. Thankfully, Betty is a tough cookie and is doing much better now.
Betty is a lady of many names. Her most common nicknames are: Boops, Betty Boop, or Booper-Oopers. She is also the most social of our barn cats and loves attention!
Dick
Dick was rescued in 2018.
He is our smallest cat, don’t tell him that… Dick thinks he is large and in charge. He might be small physically, but his personality is big.
Dick really lives up to his name. Sometimes when he is causing trouble, we have to call him by his full name. Dick Dickerson.
Fun Fact: Dick runs like a raccoon… It is hilarious!
We do not take in cats.

Lazzy
Lazzy was rescued in 2018 as a bottle baby.
Lazzy passed away and was resuscitated as a kitten, so his full name is Lazarus. He was a very sickly kitten and required around-the-clock care. Thankfully, Lazzy is doing much better now.
He enjoys taking naps and running around the property with his brother, Lucky.
Lucky
Lucky was rescued with Lazzy in 2018.
Lucky was also a bottle baby. However, he was not as sickly as his brother. The two of them are bonded, so it was best to keep them together. Lucky doesn’t like to use a litter box, which is another reason he is here.
Lucky is a little shy, but will be social in exchange for food…
He enjoys spending his days pestering his kitty friends and running around the property.

Alpha
Alpha and her brother Ape were rescued in 2015.
Alpha is very vocal. If she wants something, she will let you know. Very loudly…
She is also an aggressive cuddler, which is how she got her name.
Alpha is a social butterfly and loves to greet new volunteers. She is always looking for a new friend to love!
Ape
Ape came to WoodHaven in 2015 with Alpha.
Ape is a handsome boy, and he knows it. He is a beautiful apricot color, hence the name Ape.
He is the life of the party, always getting into something. He is also very loud, like his sister.
Ape doesn’t even want to hear the words “litter box”. He won’t use one and prefers to spray on anything else, even though he was neutered as a kitten. We still love him, though.
We do not take in cats.

Bo Bo
Bo Bo, or Bo for short, came to WoodHaven in 2015.
Unfortunately, his previous owners had to move into the city. They were worried Bo would get hurt being outside near so much traffic, and he did not like being indoors.
Bo is a sweet old man. He loves soft food and purrs loudly as he eats it. He has a medium-sized crate in our infirmary and prefers to spend his time in there. We put him out for at least a few hours every day to stretch his legs.
Mama
Mama came to us in 2015.
Mama is sweet to most people, but a terror to the other cats… She came from a terrible situation, so we don’t hold her moodiness against her.
When Mama was found, she was basically made up of bones, fleas, and fur. She was abandoned in a house and had been nursing 2 older kittens that were not even hers. Now, she is living peacefully and receives all the love she should’ve never had to miss.

Gus
Gus was trapped on the property in 2020. Susan, our Founder, had been trying to catch him for 3 years. He was a feral tomcat and had been wandering the property.
Once caught, Gus decided he liked humans. He is now one of our sweetest cats and loves attention.
Gus does have scar tissue in his lungs, which doesn’t cause him any pain. It does make breathing a little harder some days. We manage it by keeping him in a climate-controlled room when needed.
Wrede
Wrede was rescued in 2015 after being thrown out of a moving car.
She was thrown out on Old US 231, in front of Wrede’s Rocks. If you’re familiar with the area, you know it’s a busy intersection.
Unfortunately, this not only traumatized Wrede but also caused her to have her front left leg amputated.
Despite this, Wrede gets around very well. She is still shy with new people, but is a sweetheart once you earn her trust.
We do not take in cats.

Miss Everest
Miss Everest was rescued in 2015.
She has had a rough life and prefers to be left alone most days. We don’t blame her. Everest had a few failed attempts at a forever home. She was also declawed before coming to us, and it was botched.
Miss Everest goes by the nickname Evvie. She is very sweet, but like Wrede, you have to earn her trust first.
We adore Evvie and are thankful she made her way to WoodHaven, where she can live peacefully.
Jack
Jack arrived in 2021. He had been attacked by something.
Once Jack had healed, we tried to adopt him out. This did not go well… Jack refuses to use a litter box, and Jack also loves to cause violent chaos.
It was decided he would remain a permanent resident on the farm. You never really know what you will get with him; usually, it’s some form of violence.
We love our “spicy barn panther”, though!
We do not take in cats.
